Assistive Technology ReUse Centers

Giving AT Devices a Second Life

We work with partners across Alabama to collect, recycle, and redistribute gently-used Durable Medical Equipment (DME). We call this our Assistive Technology Reuse program.

Typical of these devices are:

  • Walkers
  • Wheelchairs
  • Shower chairs
  • Canes

Do you live in Alabama? Do you need this kind of equipment? Then, it’s yours … at zero cost! You can keep it for as long as you need.

We also welcome donations to help more people enjoy the necessary support to enjoy a safe and independent life.

How the Assistive Technology Reutilization Program Works

Our AT Device Reuse program gives Durable Medical Equipment a new purpose.

We receive donations of gently-used items. We then professionally sanitize them and, if necessary, refurbish them. Once ready, we match them with someone who needs them – either as a long-term loan or to keep permanently.

Some of our reuse partners also offer repairs to help device owners avoid costly replacements.

Unlike our short-term device loan program, our Device ReUse program provides equipment for ongoing use.

How Do I Get My Device Reuse Equipment

Getting started is simple.

Just call one of our reuse partner centers to see if they have the equipment you need – availability depends on donations, so it may vary.

If they have the right item, you’ll need to pick it up in person.

There’s no application process – if you live in Alabama, you’re eligible and the Device Reuse Equipment is yours.
