What is the AT Advisory Council?

Advising – Connecting - Strengthening Access to Assistive Technology in Alabama

The AT Advisory Council plays a vital role in shaping the work of APTAT. Council members bring valuable insights, lived experience, and professional expertise to help guide the direction of Alabama’s Assistive Technology program.

The AT Act requirement

The Assistive Technology Act requires each state’s AT program to form an advisory council – a body that offers consumer-driven advice to help guide and evaluate the program.

Who Are The Members of the AT Advisory Council?

The members of Alabama’s AT Advisory Council hail from a wide range of perspectives, experiences, and expertise. Most members are people with disabilities or their family members, as well as professionals from education, health, ageing, and other service systems.
