About Nakisha

Nakisha brings lived experience and a deep passion for Assistive Technology to her role as Program Assistant at APTAT. She previously worked in data entry at Red Mountain Park and served as a secretary for the Board of Education. She’s also an accomplished athlete – having played power soccer at the Lakeshore Foundation for several years.

Born with cerebral palsy, Nakisha knows firsthand how much technology can change a person’s life. Growing up, assistive tools were limited – her typewriter was the best she had for school. That changed when she received her first speech device: an iPad with ProLoQuo4Text, which she now uses to work and connect with others every day.

In Nakisha’s own words

“When I got my talking device, everything changed. I could speak up more, work better, and be more independent. That’s why I’m so passionate about Assistive Technology – and why I love being part of the APTAT team.”
